Reaching the Unreached
Plants have been used in traditional medicine for several thousand years. The knowledge of medicinal plants has been accumulated in the course of many centuries based on different medicinal systems such as Ayurveda, Unaniand Siddha. In India, it is reported that traditional healers use 2500 plant species and 100 species of plants serve as regular sources of medicine.
An ethno-botanical garden has been established at Mayilampatty field office at Karur district in order to conserve the medicinal plant species known to various ethnic communities of the region. The size of the garden is 3 acres and the garden is being managed by our NGO. This garden impart education and training to different users such as farmers, schools, colleges, folk healers and self help woman groups.
